LJ Moreno has been single for "one year and two months and still counting."
At the recently concluded Celebrity Aqua Fest Challenge held at the Lago Del Rey in Camarines Sur, the dusky actress showed no sign that she's in a hurry to have a new boyfriend.
"Inspiration? Wala nga, e, sana nga meron," she smiled. "This time kasi, focus na talaga ako sa career. Before kasi, when I was younger, parang okay-okay lang. Pero ngayon, parang I really want to do everything, parang to do well."
During LJ' s stint in the reality-based show Pinoy Fear Factor, shot in Argentina, it was rumored that a crew member of the Endemol production—the foreign team behind the show—became fond of LJ. The guy was later identified as Maxi.
LJ's eyes glowed when asked about her reported admirer.
"Si Maxi, actually friends lang talaga kami because ang layo din niya," she shared. "Happy ako dahil naging part siya ng life ko and 'yon nga, guwapo 'yong tour guide ko dun [sa Argentina]. Right now he's busy shooting Fear Factor naman [in] Finland."
The possibility of Maxi visiting the Philippines is still remote and LJ would rather play it cool than think ahead of possible scenarios.
"He said he wants to visit but he has to save money, so I don't know. Hirap din mag-expect, e. Basta happy ako na at least hanggang ngayon may communication pa rin kami."
HAPPY FOR TITA NESS. Show business of late has been rocked with the news that actress turned Parañaque councilor Alma Moreno tied the knot with the mayor of Marawi City, Sultan Fahad "Pre" Salic, in Cebu last January.
LJ, who is Alma's niece, confessed that she too was taken aback by the news.
"The funny thing is, when I got back from the States, kasi nagbakasyon ako for five weeks, 'yon nga, lumabas 'yong balita na ganun. And I talked to Tita Ness naman, pero hindi ko na-open up and hindi din naman niya sinabi sa 'kin.
"So, actually, hindi ko talaga alam ire-react ko kasi hindi ko rin alam what happened. I don't know who the guy is. I don't know how true, so siguro maganda kung makausap ko muna si Tita Ness para malaman ko talaga."
Nevertheless, LJ said she's sincerely happy for Alma's newfound romance.
"Kasi she's not getting any younger and at that age, you also need someone, parang companionship din and someone to take care of you. So, if it's true nga, I mean if that's what she wants talaga and if that makes her happy, then go for it. Kasi 'yon nga, she's already how old na rin, siyempre malungkot na rin. Her kids are getting older and they have their own life. Maganda rin na may kasama siya."
As for her own personal lovelife, LJ replied, "It's just finding the right one I guess. Pero 'yon, madami naman akong friends. Pero as far as guy na [boyfriend material], wala pa naman."
