Boracay, a tiny gem off Aklan in Western Visayas, has long been synonymous with pristine white sand and sun-soaked getaways—a favorite destination for foreign visitors, balikbayans, and locals alike.
While the island’s visitor mix and travel habits have shifted, especially after the pandemic, The Lind Boracay at Station 1 stands out as a luxury property that has reinvented itself to meet the new local-first travel trend and continues to attract guests with refreshed offerings and upscale appeal.

10 YEARS OF CRAFTING EXPERIENCES, CRAFTING MEMORIES
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sampled the hotel’s refreshed offerings in June 2025 as The Lind Boracay prepares to mark its 10th anniversary later this year.
During our visit we sat down with Pierre Henrichs, the resort’s chief operating officer, to talk about its decade on the island.
Once a favorite among young yuppies, the boutique property has since broadened its appeal and now attracts more families, both local and international.
"We noticed that this is really one of our markets," Pierre observed.
He continued, "Not the main market, but definitely a very strong market as you can see.
"Even as we speak, many, many kids are playing in the pool and it's not even vacation time."
Recognizing post-pandemic market shifts, the hotel refreshed its brand while staying true to its core, a timely move as it celebrates its 10th anniversary in October 2025.
Pierre shared, "We actually spent a lot of time to really go back to the drawing board and redefine the brand.
"So we have done a complete brand overhaul ourselves from within, hence the tagline: 'Crafting Experiences, Creating Memories.'
"We have looked in our vision and mission. And then we also looked at our entire brand — the fonts, the colors.
"So we really have refreshed that. And then we have used the new brand identity.
"And then we have also relooked at all our, you know, the way we work, the service sequences, the standard operating procedures."
THE LIND BORACAY: TURNING SETBACKS inTO MILESTONES
The Lind Boracay’s first ten years weren’t easy: the property had to navigate the 2018 Boracay rehabilitation and the COVID-19 pandemic, two major events that reshaped the island’s tourism landscape.
Recalling the 2018 rehabilitation, Pierre said, "It was extremely short, I would say, notice. So in, I think beginning of April, if I recall it correctly, we have received the announcement that the island will shut down within 30 days.
"So we didn't have a lot of time to plan. So this was, of course, for us, extremely challenging.
"We, at this stage, didn't really know how to act on upon because also, for renovation, for example, it needs time to plan.
"It's not something that you can just call the contractor and then say, 'We do a complete renovation of the resort.'"
The hotel management takes pride in having retained all its employees during that period.
"We were able to, first of all, retain our employees, so we didn't had to let anybody go," Pierre shared.
"So our employees during that time, you know, we used that time for training. We used that time for some, I would say, maintenance touch-ups within the resort.
"And then we were able to come out stronger."
When asked how they won guests back after the rehabilitation, management pointed to several factors—chief among them the fact that The Lind retained its beachfront access, while many hotels lost theirs due to the 30-meter easement from the high-tide line. This gave the property a clear advantage in its comeback.
Pierre added: "That's something we actually came out stronger after that because while other resorts lost their beach, we actually were, at the end, the only resort which had a beach.
"So this, for us, was actually an opportunity."

The COVID-19 pandemic was another major setback.
The biggest challenge then was losing staff who shifted industries to support their families, and after the pandemic the hotel faced the twin tasks of recruiting new people and maintaining its reputation for warm, high-quality hospitality.
Pierre recounted: "We lost a lot of good employees due to that because they had to, of course, leave and then they changed industries.
"So people, you know, they moved to call centers. They moved to other industries.
"So it's, I would say, the recruitment post-pandemic has been extremely, extremely difficult for the industry.
"From our side, really, our focus post-pandemic was retention, training, developing our people to make sure that, you know, we, we still have the right people to perform the task. And then, of course, to get our guests back."
Fortunately, a surge in local tourism and an increase in post-pandemic events helped the hotel recover and ramp up bookings.
Pierre told PEP: "I would say around 2022 is when it started to pick up again. We had a lot of people, I would say, not internationally, but locally."
"So actually, 2022, 2023, 2024, were actually extremely strong years for us. So, every setback for us, we came out stronger."
THE LIND BORACAY's NEW ADDITIONS
As it approaches its 10th anniversary, the hotel is unveiling new additions: a new indoor events space is under construction, and the former +36 Lobby Lounge Bar is being converted into Yim Thai restaurant.
"We're expanding as we speak in Boracay...
"We are building the Thai restaurant and adding another meeting space—a function room for up to 80 people that can also be used as a soundproof after-party venue with a full bar.
"We invest a lot in our current facility."
Asked why they went for a Thai restaurant, Pierre answered, "We looked at different food concepts, and we really felt that across board, everywhere you go in the world, everybody likes Thai food.
"So I think, it's like a cuisine which everybody likes, and also which has no conflict with our current restaurants we already have."
That’s just the start. The Lind is growing beyond Boracay with two new resort projects in Coron, Palawan, and Siargao, slated to open in roughly one to two years.
The Coron property will tap into island-hopping and dive tourism with a more laid-back, nature-forward vibe, while the Siargao resort will cater to the surf crowd and lifestyle travelers drawn to the island’s buzz.
Pierre stated: "We're also building two new resorts: one in Siargao and one in Coron.
"Siargao is the new hotspot in the Philippines. So we are very proud to be the first bigger player there on, on that island also."
