Exactly ten days after their daughter was born, Jewel Mische and Scottish husband Alex Kurzer finally had the chance to take their little princess to her very own "castle."
Born 6.8 pounds and 19 inches long at 7:32 a.m. on July 12, 2018, Baby Aislah Rose Kurzer had to stay at the neonatal intensive care unit for a couple of days since she had newborn jaundice, where the baby's skin and eyes turn yellow.
The little girl's condition is common, and can occur when babies "have a high level of bilirubin, a yellow pigment produced during normal breakdown of red blood cells," according to HealthLine.com.
In Alex's July 20 post on Jewel's Instagram account, he said, "Aislah’s levels increased again, (as expected) but were higher than the docs were comfortable sending us home with, so we have to endure at least another night of therapy to ensure that they do not creep upwards."
In the end, Baby Aislah had to endure being in a biliblanket, a portable phototherapy device used in treating jaundice even after she was taken home.
Updating the followers of their family, Jewel wrote on Instagram, “It’s hard enough to come home with a newborn, let alone a newborn with a cord attached to her.
“Not only that, but we can’t snuggle with her full time yet, or take as much photos as I want, nor can I play dress up with her coz she must always be naked on the blanket.
“So, I really can’t wait to get rid of it!
“Other than that, Aislah has been a DREAM. Sleeping well, feeding & burping like a champ!”
She gushed, “She’s super kind & chilled out. I’m obsessed!!!!”

Two months later, the celebrity kid has become her parents’ happy pill.
“Just absolutely smitten with her sweet face,” Jewel wrote in another post.

So how did the couple come up with her unique name?
Jewel said in one of her Instagram posts prior to giving birth, “We wanted a name that is both biblical and meaningful to us.
“As we searched high and low for girls names, we agreed on one name: ‘Isla’ which means ‘river.’
“I liked it from the beginning for its uniqueness and its Scottish origin since Alex is of Scottish heritage… and then it kinda represents me being the ‘ISLA(nd) of the Philippines’ as well!”
Since Jewel wanted to spell it in a different way, they added the letter 'A' in the beginning because according to Jewel, it "makes her name sweeter to the eyes."
They also opted to add letter ‘H’ which means ‘grace’ in biblical numerology.
For her second name, Rose, the actress continued, “the most elegant flower in the garden which happens to be my favorite as well as Alex’s, both for their fragrance and beauty—we thought it would suit her well and it fit nicely alongside her name”
