Kris Bernal, now on her 18th week of pregnancy, admitted it's been tough getting used to her body going through a lot of changes.
She was at first candid about her pregnancy travails—thickening waistline, swelling breasts—in this interview by PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press on March 8, 2023.
Kris expressed, somewhat shocked by her growing belly, "Actually, doon ako pinakanagulat at siguro pinaka- na-conscious ako at first.
"Kasi alam niyo naman ako parang fitness addict ako, di ba? So, I’m used to having a flat tummy, mine-maintain ko talaga na flat na flat ako. Mine-maintain ko balingkinitan ako.
"And then, alam mo yung biglang magkakaroon ka ng... palaki nang palaki yung tiyan mo.
"Parang minsan hindi mo alam kung magda-diet ba ako or, 'Eto na ba talaga yun? Ganito na ba talaga siya kalaki?'"
But in the next moment, all talked out now after getting her woes out of her system, Kris told the press, "Na-embrace ko na din siya [ang pregnancy].
"Parang ano na lang ako, I’m after the health of the baby. More on the baby na, more than myself.
"Hindi na ako masyado, yun nga, hindi na ako nagpapaka-vain na, 'Ah, kailangan sexy pa rin ako, payat ako,' ganyan. 'Workout ako,' ganyan, hindi na."

READY FOR MOTHERHOOD
Kris opened up about experiencing a range of emotions since she and her husband Perry Choi confirmed her pregnancy.
She said, "Yung bagong responsibilities as a mom na kasi siyempre, as an actress, eto yung mga duties ko, as a wife, ito yung duties ko...
"So, excited ako ano bang… parang bago sa akin yun, e, magiging bago sa akin yun.
"So excited akong i-explore, excited akong pasukin itong motherhood.
"Pero, at the same time, natatakot ako kasi hindi ko alam if, ewan ko hindi naman…wala naman siguro ready, di ba?
"So natatakot ako na alam mo yun, ngayon nagiging perfectionist ako, na natatakot akong magkamali, even sa kain ko sobrang ano ako pihikan."
So, on a scale of one to ten, how prepared is Kris for motherhood?
The StarStruck Season 4 alumna answered, "Feel ko five pa lang!"
Kris explained, "I'll be honest, parang feel ko naman, when you come into this stage of your life na motherhood, parang no one's prepared for it naman, e.
"Parang, it doesn't come with a manual. At ito, parang pag bata, natutunan mo paisa-isa. So actually, dun din ako excited, sa mga bago kong natututunan.
"And nasu-surprise din ako how willing I am to sacrifice so much for the baby and yung mga kaya kong gawin, dun ako nagugulat."
I'll do my best to give my child the best life that he she can have."
