Soon-to-be mom Iza Calzado is taking her time to enjoy her pregnancy experience.
On Thursday, November 3, 2022, Iza shared a bit about her pregnancy journey in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the launch of Charriol's St-Tropez Mariner collection and her eponymous bangle held at Okada Manila.
Asked about her pregnancy journey, Iza got candid and told PEP.ph, "Ito, I keep peeing!"
She later added, "It's been good! I'm happy and grateful! As we speak, we are good, we are... you know, I can only be grateful and joyful.
"I always choose to be joyful."
PANDEMIC PREGNANCY
Navigating pregnancy during the COVID-19 pandemic is definitely challenging.
But the 40-year-old Kapamilya actress feels grateful that her pregnancy journey happened at the height of the pandemic.
Despite the imminent dangers and challenges, she takes the same precautions to avoid getting the coronavirus and make sure that her baby is healthy especially now that she's on her second trimester.
"I think, you just really have to be cautious, whether or not it's the pandemic, because you're carrying a child.
"Just make sure that you get enough sleep, you have good supplements.
"But again, no matter what your supplements are, if you're not taking care of your body that way, wala rin."
Aside from getting enough rest and proper nutrition, Iza notes the importance of staying active during pregnancy as it offers many physical and emotional benefits.
"I keep moving... I was working out so much before the pregnancy.
"So, I'm still working out now, not as hard as I used to, but I keep moving because it's part of my life.
"It's also part of my mental health. You want to be of sound mind and spirit for the child."
UNSOLICITED ADVICE
Celebrities like Iza are the usual targets of unwanted/unsolicited pregnancy advice, but the Kapamilya star is very much ready to handle these situations.
And she actually has the best response to people giving unwanted parenting advice.
She quipped, "O, e di sila mag-alaga ng anak ko! Hindi ko babayaran ha, kung may opinion kayo? Libre po and daycare sa inyo, ganun!"
On a more serious note, she said, "Naku, people will always have something to say and nakaka-buang siya if you're gonna listen to everybody.
"However, I think... I can listen and like, 'No... Ay! Hindi, that's not what I believe in.'
"If that's that's what you believe in, I respect that but... di ba?
"I will have to really, I guess even from birthing nga e, I will have to make these decisions for myself and for my child, together with my husband, of course."
Iza first announced her pregnancy on her 40th birthday last August 12, 2022, two and a half years after she and Ben Wintle got married.
