Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano are having a baby girl!
On Thursday, August 25, 2022, the couple revealed in a vlog on YouTube that they are welcoming a daughter in the coming months.
Jessy and Luis kept the sex of their baby from themselves until their gender reveal party at the Manila House Private Club in Bonifacio Global City.
In the vlog, Jessy was visibly surprised as she was hoping for a baby boy.
She said, "I'm just really really happy, and I'm sure she's happy right now kasi nung nag-i-scan kami, naka-smile na siya agad."
Luis, on the other hand, won the bet
He said in the vlog, "Peanut, we love you and sabi namin na, first and foremost, the priority is for peanut to be healthy regardless of the gender.
"But you know, mommy and I will do our very best to raise you, for you to be a blessing to other people."
THEIR MOMS' REMINDERS
The new grandmothers Didith Garvida and Vilma Santos, had sent heartwarming messages to the first-time parents even before the baby's gender reveal.
Jessy's mom Didith said her daughter had long been wanting to have a baby.
She recalled Jessy's anxiety, "'Ang tagal-tagal naman, hindi pa ako nabubuntis,' sabi niya. 'Pag nade-delay siya, excited siya. 'Tapos biglang, 'Ay, wala na naman?'
"And she'd feel sad for awhile but that time, she called and said she's pregnant, she's so happy.
"All I want to say to the both of you is congratulations. I'm so happy that you're finally having an addition to the family.
"And being the responsible adults that you are, I'm sure you will be responsible parents who will nurture, love, and guide your child as he or she grows older.
"So good luck to both of you."
For her part, Vilma recounted how she nagged her eldest son Luis to give her an "apo."
She said, "I guess we're blessed because Peanut is coming, and, anak, I've been waiting for this for so long. You know that.
"And even the time when you got married, I said, 'Sige na anak...'
"Kahit nung hindi pa kinakasal, 'Sige na anak kahit hindi kasal, puwede sunod na lang natin? To follow na lang yung kasal...' You're not getting any younger."
Vilma also reminded Luis and Jessy about their new role as parents to Baby Peanut.
She said, "We're all excited for Peanut and we're all praying for Peanut. And the way things are going, Peanut is healthy.
"So I'm just praying, anak, because this time, as I was telling you a while ago, this time, it's not husband and wife anymore. You're going to be mommy and daddy.
"And you'll be looking forward, holistic na ito... Family na ito. I'm praying na sana looking forward for a more meaningful life as a family.
"So I wish you good luck. We're all here. We're rooting for Peanut and we will always pray for you both and yung coming family niyong dalawa.
"I love you both, you know that. I love you Lucky, and this time, I love you Jessy. And I love you Peanut!"
