Cassy Legaspi is now in her second year in college and taking up Business Marketing.

She did not take a break while she was doing her first-ever GMA-7 prime-time drama series titled First Yaya, which started in December 2020 up until May 2021.

It meant the 20-year-old Kapuso actress juggled her work and studies all throughout the lock-in taping of the teleserye.

Cassy recalled, "Nung nasa lock in ako, I was thinking kasi if I should take time off school pero na-realize ko, 'Hindi, kaya ko iyan, kaya ko iyan!'

"Well, at least, kinaya ko naman. So during lock in, I was also doing school work.

"So during breaks, I would write yung mga papers ko, nagte-test ako."

Cassy said she was grateful to her co-stars for their support, particularly Clarence Delgado who helped her with some of her class projects.

"There was this time na si Clarence, yung brother ko sa First Yaya, he had to film me for my finals project na naka-get-up ako ni Nina Acosta.

"Sabi ko, 'Bahala na, mage-gets na yun ng teacher ko, basta kailangan ko mag-pass ng finals ko.'

"If you really want to do something, you will do anything to get it."

Cassy was interviewed during a virtual press conference last Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

CASSY'S MOTIVATION

Cassy said the thought of her parents' dream enabled her to hurdle the challenges of being a working student.

The daughter of Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel said, "Honestly, yung parents ko. They're the biggest motivation... I'm doing this for them.

"Kasi I want to make them proud na... I want to, I guess, finish their dreams kasi my parents didn't get to graduate in college.

"So sabi ko, 'Sige, ako na lang gagawa nun for you guys.' So ayun po."

Cassy also revealed the condition of her parents before giving her the go-signal to enter showbiz.

She said, "That was part of the agreement before we sign with Artist Center na, 'Okay, gusto niyo maging artists? Okay, puwede, but don't let go of your education.'

"Siyempre po, okay naman po ako sa deal. I have nothing to lose. So we agreed to it right away."

CASSY'S COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Asked about her experience studying amid the pandemic, she answered, "Stressful, stressful but fun.

"Well alam ko naman na it will all be worth it in the end especially juggling work and school.

"Not everyone can say, I guess, that they do that. More of, like, I know that this will be a good achievement in the end."

Cassy later said, "When I first entered college, parang hindi pa po ako full-blown artista or something... So okay, easy-easy pa rin siya.

"And then, eventually, I think what made it hard was the pandemic.

"I'm sure it was hard for all of us adjusting to online."

What led her to take up Business Marketing, her first choice for a college course?

According to Cassie, her closest friends and teachers in her senior high school encouraged her toward that direction

"I really wanted Business Marketing ever since kasi po I really want something to do with people and how to market things.

"Kasi super... sa business, ano ba yung sobrang ma-chika na course? Marketing! So siyempre, I chose marketing."

Apart from that, Cassy said she was in the ABM strand (accountancy, business, and management academic programs) in her senior high school.

She continued, "So my classmates were saying na, 'Alam mo, mag-Marketing ka...'

"Kasi I wanted to do Psychology, pero my classmates and teachers were saying, 'Mag-Marketing ka, that's one of your strengths.'

"Sabi ko, 'Try ko.' And I learned to love it, ayun po."

REST AND RECHARGE

How she was able to attend to her work and academic lessons at the same, the GMA Artist Center talent said it's all about time management.

Then she reminded the importance of taking a rest to recharge in between her activities

Cassie said, "Yung dance lessons ko was after First Yaya. So I just make sure to schedule it properly, especially with yung mga singing lessons ko.

"But I always make sure na I'm not too tired kasi healthy should be the number one priority. Siyempre, in this pandemic, naku we can't lower our immune system.

"So ayun po, I just make sure to rest all the time, kung may time.

"I guess, this is super cliche but learn to rest kasi it's really tiring to work and at the same time go to school.

"Especially, those students who provide for their families. Nako, super saludo ako sa inyo lahat, my gosh.

"But always make sure to rest and learn to recharge para you won't really dread working and going to school.

"Deserve niyo iyan, guys, promise!"
