Man sleeps 30 minutes a day for 12 years to be more productive

Meet Daisuke Hori, the Japanese man who has been sleeping around 30 minutes a day for 12 years. He claims he's been having more hours awake and doing more. Is it possible?

Para sa mga busy people, minsan ay nararamdaman nilang kulang ang 24 hours sa dami ng gagawin.

Pero hindi ito problema ng isang Japanese man dahil naturuan niya raw ang sariling matulog lamang ng 30 minutes araw-araw sa loob ng 12 years.

Sabi ni Daisuke Hori, 40, naturuan niya ang kanyang utak at katawan na mag-function nang normal at di nakakaramdam ng pagod sa kabila ng kaunting tulog, ulat ng South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Bukod sa pagiging businessman, maraming ginagawa si Daisuke sa hangad na maging productive.

Mahilig siya sa music, painting, body-building, at mechanical design.

Nakatira siya sa Hyogo prefecture sa Western Japan.

Twelve years ago, sinanay ni Daisuke ang sarili na matulog lamang ng 30-45 minutes kada araw para magkaroon ng maraming oras sa ibang bagay.

Sabi niya sa SCMP, “As long as you do sports or drink coffee an hour before eating, you can stave off drowsiness.’

TEACHING OTHERS to sleep less and do more

Naging adbokasiya ni Daisuke ang ganitong lifestyle dahil noong 2016, itinayo niya ang Japan Short Sleepers Training Association.

Tinuturuan niya ang kanyang mga estudyante ng kanyang kaalaman ukol sa tulog at kalusugan.

“People who need sustained focus in their work benefit more from high-quality sleep than long sleep,” aniya.

“For instance, doctors and firefighters have shorter rest periods but maintain high efficiency.”

Nakalagay rin sa resume ni Daisuke na umabot na sa 2,100 ang naging estudyante niya at naturuang maging “ultra-short sleepers.”

Naitampok si Daisuke sa Will You Go With Me?, isang Japan TV show.

Mistulang “a day in a life” ang show at sinundan si Daisuke sa loob ng tatlong araw.

Ipinakita rin dito na isang beses ay tumagal lamang ng 26 minutes ang tulog ni Daisuke

Ipinakita rin ang kanyang pagpunta sa trabaho at pagdyi-gym.

Na-interview rin sa TV show ang isa sa mga naging estudyante ni Daisuke, at sinabi ng female student na naturuan niya ang sariling matulog lamang ng isa at kalahating oras araw-araw sa loob ng apat na taon.

Sa kabila nito ay napanatili umano niya zng magandang mental health condition at makinis na balat.

Ayon sa Mayoclinic, ang average hours of sleep para sa mga adults ay pitong oras.

Ang kulang na oras sa pagtulog ay magkakaroon ng epekto sa health, at magiging sanhi ng “weight gain, having a body mass index of 30 or higher, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and depression.”

Paniniwala ng isa, darating ang araw na sisingilin si Daisuke ng kanyang katawan dahil sa kakulangan ng tulog.
