Over the past few days, celebrity mom Rona Tai received comments body shaming her after her husband Eric Tai uploaded photo of their family enjoying the beach in Bataan.
Eric wrote on the caption of his post dated December 25, "From the bottom of my maskels, a SAFE & BLESSED-MERRY CHRISTMAS to your family from mine! [emoji] #TaiCation #RaisingALegend #MerryChristmas"
Some of Eric's Facebook followers wrote unflattering remarks, telling him to bring Rona to the gym with him and for her to "live a healthier lifestyle."
One particular comment, now deleted, was blunt, "why bro u can advise someone who can work out but your wife you cant teach her to be fit."
Quickly, Eric retorted, defending Rona, "she's one of PHILIPPINES MOST SOUGHT AFTER PLUS SIZE MODEL! Actually one of the best.. you'll see her on Avon, HnM, Cosmopolitan, SM & many more advertisements, prints & commercials! #WomenEmpowerment [emojis]"

Facebook user Raffy Quiambao, catching the exchange between Eric and the netizen, shared it in his FB account.
The post has since garnered over 188,000 reactions, some of which applauded Eric for defending his wife.
The netizen who wrote the offensive comment also reacted, claiming in a separate post that he was just asking a question and not bashing Rona.
Another Facebook user echoed the first netizen's statement and wrote, "mas mainam pa din ang sexy at fit na pangangatawan."
This was followed by another comment telling Eric, "yayain mo din siya mag gym idol."

Despite receiving unsolicited advice on keeping fit and body-shaming comments, Rona has remained steadfast about her body-positivity advocacy.
In an Instagram post on December 27, 2021, the Amazing Race Asia Season 5 second runner-up and plus-size model left a message to her bashers on social media.
Rona wrote, "To everyone that body shamed me on my husband’s recent Christmas post. My prayer for you is to find true & unconditional love. Not just from your significant other, but also from yourself.
"Love yourself enough even if you’re going through something that you will see it’s beauty and strength despite it’s imperfection.
"Know that you can body shame me all day long, but sweetheart, that don’t faze me!"
In a previous interview, Rona revealed her knee injury after a snowboarding accident in 2007.
Hence, for two years, she was forbidden to do any physical workouts.
She also had bouts of depression brought about by her sudden lifestyle change.
In 2015, Rona got pregnant but she suffered a miscarriage, and was told by a doctor the only way she could have a baby was through in vitro fertilization (IVF) because she already had lost her fallopian tubes and left ovary.
In August 2018, Rona and Eric happily announced they were expecting a baby via IVF. In March 2019, they welcomed their son Legend.
