Kabilang ang classic Filipino dish na tinola sa inihahain sa mga estudyante sa school cafeterias ng Hawaii public schools sa Oahu, Kauai, and Hawaii Island ngayong buwan ng September.

Sinangkapan ang pagluluto ng tinola ng locally sourced bok choy and green papaya.

Umabot sa 75 schools sa mga nabanggit na lugar sa Hawaii ang na-serve ng naturang Filipino dish.
Bahagi ito ng farm-to-school initiative ng Hawaii State Department of Education para mapalakas ang food sustainability sa Hawaii, mapaganda ang kalusugan ng mga estudyante at masuportahan ang local farmers.
Plano ng Hawaii State Department of Education na gawing regular ang pagse-serve ng tinola sa mga estudyante.

STUDENTS DESCRIBE TINOLA AS VERY UNIQUE DISH
Isinalarawan ng Hawaiian students na nakatikim ng tinola na ang lasa nito ay “very unique.”
Pagbabahagi ni Jayden Fukuhara, sixth grader sa Alvah Scott Elementary School sa Oahu: “I’ve had something similar that my grandma has made for me.
“I thought it [tinola] tasted very good.”

Ayon naman sa cook ng nabanggit na school na si Joe Esta: “This is the first time we ever served this dish, especially for the kids.
“They always like something new on the menu. So, we’re excited to make it for them.”
Ang tinola ay rich source ng vitamins K, C, and A.
Mababa naman ang sugar content and calories ng green papaya, at may taglay na vitamins C, B, potassium, and fiber.

TINOLA, OTHER FILIPINO DISHES TO BE FEATURED IN FILIPINO FOOD WEEK
Ikinatuwa ng Philippine Consulate sa Honolulu sa pagiging bahagi ng tinola sa official public school menu ng Hawaii.
Binigyang-diin naman ni Hawaii Consul General Arman Talbo na halos one-fourth ng populasyon sa naturang US state ay may Filipino roots.
Ayon sa consul: "We welcome this move to include Filipino food in school meals in Hawaii.
“Recent estimate shows that almost 25 percent of all residents of Hawaii is of Filipino American descent, and the expanding popularity of our cuisine in the islands shows the depth of our cultural contribution."
Inianunsyo rin niya na may gaganaping Filipino Food Week sa darating na October.
"The Consulate in Hawaii will be promoting Filipino cuisine through our flagship project Filipino Food Week this October as part of the Filipino American History Month celebration.
“More than 20 restaurants in Hawaii and American Samoa will be serving Filipino dishes from October 18 to October 25 so that more and more people, including tourists, will have the opportunity to try and appreciate our food."
