Nagwagi si Arnon Yzabel Guzman Guinto, estudyante ng Tarlac National High School, ng prestihiyosong National Geographic Society (NGS) Special Award sa ginanap na International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) sa Los Angeles, USA, ngayong May 17, 2024.
Ang NGS awards sa ISEF ay kumikilala sa mga outstanding projects sa larangan ng geography and geospatial science.

ARNON GUINTO'S PROJECT FOR NAT GEO
Ang proyekto niya na modernong 3D groundwater flooding simulation ay kayang i-predict ang magiging rainfall patterns sa Tarlac City.
Layunin nitong masolusyunan ang panganib na hatid ng mga bagyo at baha na nagreresulta sa pagkasira ng mga ari-arian, paghina ng ekonomiya, at maging pagkamatay ng ilang residente sa mga lugar na madalas tamaan ng mga kalamidad gaya ng Tarlac City.
Ayon pa sa description ng proyekto, “This study proposed the development of a 3D spatio-temporal Geographic Information System (GIS) along with a hydrodynamic model, specifically designed to replicate flood inundation induced by rainfall, groundwater discharge dynamics, and surface flooding occurrences in Tarlac City.
“It emphasizes the proficient application of advanced methodologies for flood prediction and risk assessment within the area of study.”
Makatutulong din ang proyektong ito para mapalakas ang paghahanda kapag may paparating na mga kalamidad.

ARNON ALSO WINS AT 2024 DEPED SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR
Bago lumahok si Arnon sa ISEF, nauna nang pinarangalan ang kanyang proyekto sa ginanap na 2024 National Science and Technology Fair na isinagawa ng Department of Education noong April,
Nagwagi siya sa Mathematics and Computational Science Individual Category Best Project at Best Presenter.
Tumanggap din siya ng premyong PHP10,000.00 mula sa Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc.
