Heart Evangelista's mom Cecile Ongpauco finally makes it to the actress's renewal of wedding vows with Senator Chiz Escudero.
Heart and Chiz renewed their lifetime commitment to each other at Balesin Island this Thursday, February 15, 2024.
Unfortunately, Heart's father Rey Ongpauco could not make it as he is still undergoing medical treatment in the United States.
It will be recalled that Cecile and Rey both snubbed Heart and Chiz's wedding at the Balesin Island Resort exactly nine years ago.
At the time, Heart's parents publicly expressed disapproval of Chiz and alleged a few things about the senator.
The closest thing Heart got as a form of blessing was a heartfelt letter from Rey that was read during the couple's wedding reception in 2015.
Part of Rey's message for Heart: "If the time comes that we see that you and Chiz are happy and if I see him loving you the way you deserve to be loved, I will come knocking at your door."
Cecile's silence, on the other hand, spoke volumes of how she didn't want to take any part in Heart and Chiz's wedding.
Fast-forward to the present, Cecile played a major role in Heart and Chiz's renewal of wedding vows.
When they reached the end of the altar, Cecile gave Heart a warm embrace before sending the actress off to her husband Chiz.
It was definitely a sweet moment for Heart, who has long since made peace with her parents.
In May 2016, Heart actually brought Cecile to Balesin to show her around the resort where the actress's 2015 wedding had taken place.
Since then, both Cecile and Rey have expressed support for the couple's marriage.
Cecile was also optimistic that Heart and Chiz will stay together at the height of the couple's reported marital problem in 2022.
