Seasoned singer-actress Kuh Ledesma weighs in on the pros and cons of cosmetic surgery.

Seasoned singer-actress Kuh Ledesma is not against cosmetic surgery per se, but she is not in favor of people resorting to it simply because of vanity.

“Not if you’re… bata ka pa, 'tapos maganda ka. Wag mong baguhin ang anyo mo,” exclaims the 62-year-old OPM artist when asked about celebrities who undergo cosmetic surgery.

These days, people also refer to it as a beauty transformation or beauty makeover, since some procedures are non-invasive and no longer involve literally going under the knife.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had a sit-down interview with Kuh at the press conference of Love Matters, her pre-Valentine concert with her daughter Isabella Ledesma Gonzalez, Gabby Concepcion, and Kris Lawrence, happening at Vertis Tent, Quezon City on February 13.

Recently, among those who have become controversial for going through a transformation include news anchor Korina Sanchez, Pinoy Big Brother: 737 ex-housemate Miho Nishida, and online personality Xander Ford.

Kuh adds about the current controversial topic, “Kung talagang there’s something wrong with your nose na sobrang, it’s getting to be a hindrance to your job [then do the procedure].”

Basic regimens like facial treatments are okay with her.

“Pero yung bata ka pa nagpapaunat ka na ng mukha, yung gano'n, I don’t believe in it.

“'Tsaka wala akong nakitang nagpaunat ng mukha na naging maganda after so many times, ‘no.

“'Tsaka nakakatakot, e, kasi you never know the side effects or the adverse effects.”

Will she ever consider going through enhancements?

“I don’t know if I’ll ever pull my face. I don’t know if I’ll ever take out my eyebags.

“I don’t know.

“It’s not in my agenda,” she replies.

Kuh believes that people who resort to cosmetic surgery has a void that they wish to fill.

“It’s an insecurity,” she declares.

“I believe na yung mga bata, a, na parang sobra.

“Parang yun ang nagiging focus. Kasi yun ang alam nila.

“But actually, yung binibiro ko nga ang mga tao, if you come to know Christ, you’ll have the peace that you need.

“Nagmumukha ka pang bata, without any cosmetic surgery.

“I’m not against it, I think it’s good pag sobra yung acne, if there is a such a big mole na kailangan tanggalan, or dapat talaga aayusin.

“Pero yung hindi naman [kailangan] ayusin tapos nagpapaayos, iba yun,” she concludes.
