Charo Santos-Concio: "It’s when you age and that you have gone through a lot of mistakes, you have gone through a lot of failures, and you realize buhay ka pa, hindi ka naman namatay."

After stepping down as the president and CEO of ABS-CBN, Charo Santos-Concio has found herself in front of the camera once more.

On June 15, Olay Philippines introduces Charo as its newest ambassador in Shangri-La at The Fort.

In what she calls her "serene sixties," she finds it a delightful surprise to endorse a beauty product—the Olay Regenerist night cream—for the first time.

She says, "I would never imagine that at my sixties, I would be endorsing a beauty product.

"So I hope I would be able to inspire a lot of women to pursue their dreams to continue enjoying life, continue facing your fears, live your dreams."

Dressed in a red custom-made Vania Romoff gown, Charo admits to "rediscovering how it is to face the cameras again."

But if she were to describe her life now, Charo says she is "more relaxed."

BEAUTY AND AGE. Turning 60 has also reopened a lot of doors for the entertainment icon.

In addition to her beauty endorsement, she confirms her comeback to acting through Lav Diaz's new film Ang Babaeng Humayo.

"I’m so grateful, I really hope I continue to serve as a role model to a lot of women na hindi sila mawalan ng pag-asa, be the best beautiful, be the best of what they can be in whatever role they are portraying."

For Charo, age is neither an excuse or reason to slow down.

In fact, it is what makes every thing more beautiful.

She resumes, "Age and beauty are not really opposites. They’re friends.

"Good friends because with age comes a lot of wisdom, with age comes achievement, success, dignity, a lot of lessons learned, inner peace, calm mind, and serenity, and so I mean all of these equal beauty.

"So age equals beauty."

She tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and a few members of the press, "Actually kapag bata ka, mas marami kang fears, e.

"It’s when you age and that you have gone through a lot of mistakes, you have gone through a lot of failures, and you realize buhay ka pa, hindi ka naman namatay.

"It really develops courage and resilience, and it develops strength of character.

"It’s beautiful to grow in years."
