Kyline Alcantara and Maymay Entrata share how makeup, especially lipstick, empowers them to express themselves and embrace their unique beauty.
Kyline Alcantara and Maymay Entrata have one thing in common: they were not naturally kikay.
For Maymay, if not for her dream of becoming a celebrity, she wouldn’t have given it a second thought.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at Avon’s #ColorsThatComeAlive Ultra Beauty Masterclass held on March 13, 2025, she shared, “Dati, hindi talaga ako marunong mag-make-up.”
But auditioning for Pinoy Big Brother and other reality shows since she was 14, and facing multiple rejections, taught her how to stand out and get noticed.
She continued, "Natuto akong mag-make-up at natutunan ko rin na it just enhances yung natural beauty. It also helps me to be confident din at saka yung mood ko, and to feel empowered din."
Kyline, on the other hand, grew up with some curiosity about make-up because her mom was an Avon seller.
"When I was a kid, hindi talaga ako kikay na tao. I was really a tomboy."
She added, "Na-curious ako kung anong meron, bakit siya mahal na mahal ng mga kababaihan, and not just kababaihan, even the gay people out there!"
KYLINE AND MAYMAY'S BEAUTY HACKS
For Kyline, lipstick reflects her mood; for Maymay, it gives her a radiant glow.
The Kapuso actress has yet to find her signature look, as she enjoys switching things up—especially her lip shade.
Kyline said, "I’m still young, I’m really in that mood or moment sa buhay ko na I’m just experimenting and exploring and stuff. So with makeup, you can easily explore on things."
The Kapamilya star, however, already has a favorite shade: The Ultra Color Lipstick in Red Supreme.
Maymay recommended, “Kaya pipiliin niyo yung mga kulay na kagaya ng Ultra Color Lipstick Red Supreme, ito yung pinaka-favorite kong shade."

When asked about their beauty hacks, Maymay highlighted the importance of prepping the lips before applying lipstick.
“Importante na bago tayo magpatong ng lipstick, mag-lip balm muna kayo para it’s easier to apply.”
The added benefit of this is that the balm moisturizes the lips.
Kyline picked up an essential tip from the event’s beauty expert, Gela Laurel.
She added, “Natututo pa lang kasi ako mag-make up talaga on my own now, pero siguro yung advice ni Miss Gela kanina na kailangan mo rin i-check yung color wheel, because that's really important. That can really improve your make-up.”
Some stars use layers of lipsticks to achieve their desired shade, mix the right colors and make sure the final color matches your skin tone and, sometimes, your outfit.

KYLINE AND MAYMAY ON MAKE-UP BEING THEIR CONFIDENCE BOOSTERS
Why is make-up necessary?
For Maymay, its effect goes beyond aesthetics.
"Gaya ng sinabi ko kanina, parang naging ritual na sa akin yung make-up kasi parang automatic na kapag magme-make-up ako, I feel empowered agad."
Kyline echoed this sentiment:
"Katulad nga ng sinasabi ko, I express myself through make-up, especially through lipstick, depende sa mood ko.
"Like, for example, today, I'm feeling a bit preppy, so I used Iced Coffee.
"But on days when I want to feel bold, like when I feel so confident as a person, I use very bold lipstick.”
In short, make-up is a reliable and quick pick-me-up for them. As public figures constantly under scrutiny, looking their best is always a priority.
