Singer Kyla Alvarez, 43, is not getting any younger, fully accepting it to be an inevitable fact of life.
Recognizing a sense of insecurity creeping in as she goes through midlife, Kyla is dealing with in the most positive way.
"Parang feeling ko naman lahat merong insecurities, parang di siya nawawala," Kyla told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
In her view, managing insecurities is a personal responsibility that can lead to a more positive perspective on aging.
"It's just a matter of how you handle yourself, I guess, para wag siyang lumabas, yung insecurities, it's mind over matter,” in reference to the effectivity of self-affirmations.
Kyla explained, "Somehow you have to validate yourself as well.
“Not in a bad way na parang ang yabang mo na, but just know your worth and your value as a person or as an artist."
PEP talked to Kyla at the grand opening of Avignon Clinic's branch in Alabang, Muntinlupa City on December 2, 2024.
SUPPORTIVE HUSBAND, SELF-CARE
In the interview, the singer gave a shout-out to Rich Alvarez for being a supportive husband boosting her confidence significantly.
“Oo, siyempre. Pag maganda yung tingin sa akin ng asawa ko, wala na kong pakialam sa sasabihin ng ibang tao. Yun pa lang confident na ako," Kyla averred.
Kyla also emphasized the importance of self-care, alongside personal affirmations and support from loved ones.
She expressed, "Importante yun, kasi siyempre as a mom, you also have to take care of yourself. Self-care is very important.
"Para at least, when you're doing your work, you still feel good about yourself. You're confident."
Her new favorite destination for self-care has been the Avignon Clinic Grand Alabang.
She said, "Very beautiful, parang kang napunta ng hotel. Yung clinic nila, ganun, it's very comfortable to be in."
Kyla mentioned the shop’s skin-tightening procedures as the ones she preferred the most.
