Not everyone has the means to regularly enjoy the luxurious blowouts that celebrities often showcase, mainly due to their abundant resources and access to top-tier hairstylists.
However, achieving beautiful hair doesn’t have to be costly—in fact, doing it yourself at home is a practical solution, as recommended by celebrity hairstylist Paul Nebres.
"Well, you can do it with the right product and the right hair tool talaga," Paul told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview on September 28, 2024, during Dyson's event at Robinson's Place in Manila.
But why is this so crucial?
Because owning the right tools goes beyond mere convenience. It’s a solid investment that can help you achieve salon-quality results without stepping out of your door.
He recommends the Dyson Airwrap, which you can find on Shopee and Lazada for PHP35,900, and also the Dyson Airstraight, available on Shopee and Lazada for PHP33,900.
Paul said, "Actually, it's for personal use more than professional kasi it's perfect... kasi hindi niya nada-damage yung buhok.
"Hindi ka mapapaso. Kasi diba the hot tools that we use usually mapapaso ka. I think Dyson Airstraight or Airwrap is perfect for us.
"Lalo na sa mga everyday na nag-aayos ng buhok."
Paul considers these tools to be valuable investments and reliable beauty aids.
He places great emphasis on their ease of use and mastery, especially for those who are just starting out.
That being said, Paul also encourages practicing at home to perfect that celebrity hair blowout.
Paul told PEP.ph, "I think it's really how you play with the tool. Because Airwrap, especially Airwrap, very tricky siya if you don't know how to use it.
"You'll end up having a bad hair day. So, for me, just play with the tools."
HAIRCARE IS A MUST
Paul's perspective that achieving flawless hair doesn't always require a professional touch is indeed refreshing.
But he also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a strong foundation—meaning healthy hair—to begin with.
For Paul, simply shampooing and conditioning your hair thoroughly is sufficient, along with using hair masks occasionally.
He said, "Well, the proper shampoo and conditioner, perfect na siya. Yung nagwo-work talaga with you.
"Kasi hindi naman lahat nagwo-work. You have to find a proper or a perfect shampoo and conditioner na magwo-work sa hair mo.
"What I use is Tresemme. It works because they have the whole variant na shampoo, conditioner, hair mask.
"So you can use hair mask weekly. And then shampoo and conditioner everyday."
Paul dismisses the belief that shampooing should only occur a few times a week, noting that this doesn't apply to Filipinos, especially given our tropical weather.
He observed, "Kasi sinasabi nila dapat daw hindi lagi nag-wash ng hair. But it's not applicable in the Philippines because it's very humid and super hot sa atin.
"Unlike other western countries na malamig you can do three days hair.
"Dito imposible kasi paglabas natin ng bahay, pawis na tayo. Just to remove the sweat and dirt, shampoo and conditioner talaga."
Regarding conditioner, Paul points out that Filipinos often mistakenly apply it to their scalps, which should be avoided.
The celebrity hairstylist said, "Conditioner kasi usually akala nila sa buong buhok.
"But it's, ano lang, ends. Avoid the roots. Kasi we have natural oil sa scalp natin.
"So to avoid oily hair din. Kasi yung iba, nao-overuse nila yung conditioner.
"Avoid the scalp. So ends lang sya and then shampoo yun yung from roots to ends talaga."
PAUL NEBRES: HOLIDAY HAIR TRENDS
Paul was also asked about upcoming holiday hair trends.
He noted that many people are already drawn to or inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's curtain bangs combined with luxurious locks.
Paul said, "Well, recently ang daming using ribbons. So I think a proper Sabrina Carpenter blowout. Or the volume curls niya. The one I did earlier. Feeling ko magiging trend sya.
"[Yung] may curtain bangs ni Sabrina Carpenter... As in parang halos lahat nagpapagupit ng ganoon."

Paul shared that even Kylie Verzosa, one of his celebrity clients, already had her hair styled like Sabrina's.
"Like Kylie din, nagpa-bangs siya dahil it's really nice. Kasi it frames your [face]. And it's easy to style."
For those planning to try this trend, Paul recommends researching thoroughly, as not every hairstyle flatters everyone.
He personally adjusts styles to fit the unique facial features of his clients.
"Well, ako naman, not every hairstyle kasi suits everyone that I work with. So yeah, I keep researching in Instagram, TikTok, tutorials. But I make sure na lalagyan ko pa rin sya ng touch ko.
"I don't really like, yeah I get inspiration pero hindi ko sila kina-copy at school. I tweak it a little just to parang maging perfect sya sa look ko.
"Kasi hindi lahat talaga bagay sa everyone. Adjust mo sya to the person you're doing."
