No matter how busy she is, Dawn Zulueta sees to it that she pursues projects and passions that are not related to showbiz.
Her current "hobby" and one of her "favorite things" is needlepoint, which was defined by Cambridge Dictionary as "the activity of making a picture by sewing onto a piece of cloth."
Do not mistake it for cross stitch because there are two big differences, as Quora.com pointed out.
One, "the needlepoint is almost always done on canvas or gauze—think more holes—while cross stitch is almost always done on fabric."
Two, "...the transformation of canvas work into an arguably infinite number of possibilities in stitch techniques, using a much wider range of fibers, than traditional cross stitch."
Here's Dawn giving you an idea on how it's done.
Here are some of her finished products.
She calls these "My Spanish fans."
This chintz is more elaborate.
Want to give it a try?
Beginner's projects would normally require the following:
(1) small canvas with few colors; look for 14 count or less
(2) pearl cotton thread
(3) small scissors
(4) stitching needle
(5) a small bag to hold it all

It's both relaxing and rewarding.
