All year round we've seen our favorite celebrities out and about in showbiz events, corporate functions, and other public gatherings.
And we've spotted some of them sporting the most fashionable trends of the year.
Which fashion trend did they pick up most often? Here's our list:
FLARED BOTTOMS. Fashion in 2011 banked on the revival of the 1970's look, particularly the flared pants.
Among its many types—the bell bottoms, elephant bells, balloon pants, and the boot-cut type, which were all popular in the '70s—the wide-leg trousers and palazzo pants emerged as the year's bigger hits.
Paired with virtually any kind of top that girls love to tuck in the waist and secure with a braided belt, platform heels, and eye-catching accessories, our own local beauties channeled the decade's fun disco vibe.
SPOTTED PICKING UP THIS TREND: Bianca Gonzalez in several episodes of the now defunct TV show SNN Showbiz News Ngayon; Jodi Sta. Maria at the press conference for 100 Days To Heaven in May; and Vice Ganda at the movie premiere of Bulong in February.
SHEER FABRIC. Celebrity fashionistas went all out this year with lace, tulle, chiffon, and other flimsy fabric.
Without having to go totally bare, girls embraced the sexy look, while keeping things elegant at the same time.
From soft shirts to feeble skirts, to full-blown dresses and red-carpet gowns, sheer fabric was seen on almost everyone.
This trend channels the more feminine side of 2011 fashion, compared to the androgynous twist of the wide-leg bottoms.
And if the runways of the Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Week say anything, then this trend will continue at least until early next year.
SPOTTED PICKING UP THIS TREND: Sarah Geronimo at her press conference in January; Cheska Garcia-Kramer at the US Girls presscon in February; and Tweetie de Leon at the first Philippine Fashion Ball in August.
PRINTS GALORE. Again channeling the 1970's, some of our favorite celebs took the hippie route with its abundant choices of cool graphics.
Animal prints—leopard, tiger, zebra, and whatnot—topped the list as the default representation of fun, fearless fashion.
The more reserved, on the other hand, opted for funkier abstracts—the more colorful and confusing the design, the better.
SPOTTED PICKING UP THIS TREND: Anne Curtis at the Primadonna launch in November; Carla Abellana at the Golden Screen Awards in April; and Jillian Ward at Mother Lily Monteverde's birthday party in August.
GEM EARRINGS. It seems the ladies listened to the wailing of their necks from wearing all those chunky neck pieces last year.
2011 marked the return of the power earrings...but not just any kind.
We're talking about diamonds, crystals, rubies, sapphires, and opals—all those to-die-for (literally) stones embedded into intricately molded backbones of gold, silver, and white gold.
From the red carpet of the biggest black-tie events—where these pieces are usually seen as flashy accents to formal wear—these highly expensive blings were also worn by the ladies to more casual occasions.
Truly, modern styling has diminished the demarcation line between formal and casual wear. These days it's all about mix-and-match.
SPOTTED PICKING UP THIS TREND: Jinkee Pacquiao at Senator Bong Revilla and Congresswoman Lani Mercado's wedding in May; Angel Locsin at the Esquire Ball in October; and Bea Alonzo at the Star Magic Ball in September.
ON GUYS: NEUTRAL JACKETS. Since there are fewer fashion options for men, the trick to looking stylish always comes down to how creative they can get.
Using classic staples such as T-shirt and collared polo, male celebrities have learned to wear them along with a top layer, in the form of blazers, coats, or sweaters.
But among the variety of cover-ups available in the menswear section, what stood out this year were the casual jackets in neutral colors like black, beige, and gray.
Paired with slim-fit trousers and dressy shoes, guys infused the serious appeal of corporate dressing with a more casual look.
SPOTTED PICKING UP THIS TREND: Jake Cuenca at the My Neighbor's Wife press conference in August; Robi Domingo at the Star Magic Concert for Humanity in August; and Elmo Magalona at the Tween Academy: Class of 2012 press conference also in August.
