Star Studio magazine celebrates its 10th year by launching the "Celebrity Style Awards," which announced its list of nominees last June 24 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
The event was hosted by Kjwan frontman and TV host Marc Abaya, while the nominees in the different award categories were announced by noted fashion designers and celebrities.
Selection process was done last April by a style council led TV and movie director Joey Reyes and celebrity fashion designer Rajo Laurel. Also included were fashion and event director Robby Carmona, model and VJ Sarah Meier, celebrity photographer Raymond Isaac, magazine editor Raul Manzano, and showbiz editor Tinna Bonifacio.
PEOPLE'S CHOICE. One of the two major categories is open to the public for voting, which commenced last July 7 and will end on 12:00 noon of September 3. Showbiz fans can support their idols thru texting or visiting selected booths where forms are available.
The nine awards in the People's Choice Category: Most Stylish Kontrabida, Most Stylish Leading Man and Leading Lady, Most Stylish Comedian and Comedienne, Most Sylish Male TV Host and Female TV Host and finally, Most Sylish Male Live Performer and Female Live Performer.
TECHNICAL AND CELEBRITY AWARDS. A second Style Council will convene to choose the winners in the Technical Awards and Celebrity Awards category.
The former will honor some of the best people working behind the scenes to make the celebrities look good with the following awards: Best Celebrity Fashion Designers and Best Celebrity Stylists.
The latter will hail the industry's Female Celebrity Style Icon, Male Celebrity Style Icon, Red Carpet Style-Female, and Red Carpet Style - Male.
When asked to explain the rationale behind giving such awards, the magazine's associate editor said, "We want to recognize them for the effort they put in to looking good. When you're in the spotlight practically 24/7, it's hard to look good consistently all the time."
Meanwhile, the launch party also mounted a "Wall of Stars" photo exhibit, where shots of celebrities joining the efforts of Sagip Kapamilya and the Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig Foundation were featured. The photographs were done by Niccolo Cosme.
The Celebrity Style Awards will culminate into an awards night and fashion show, which will be held this October.
