The visit of a balikbayan friend, the Canada-based Telly Aguba-Garcia, became the occasion for a reunion of gal pals Lorna "LT" Tolentino, Gina Alajar, Sandy Andolong, Amy Austria, Isabel Rivas, Lynn Ynchausti Cruz, Elena Orosa, and April Cezar.
Telly's family owned Excellance Spa in Greenhills, in the ‘80s. That was the spa that used to house Fanny Serrano's parlor. "Sikat 'yon noong araw," LT says of Excellance. "Nandoon kami lagi."
To celebrate Telly's brief homecoming, the Manila-based gang of former Excellance Spa customers trooped to the Aguba-owned Excellance Resort in Sahud Ulan, Tanza, Cavite, for a whole day of fun and reminiscing. There and then, they dubbed themselves the Northern and Southern Belles.
LT explains: "Si Telly, taga-Cavite. Si Isabel, taga-Zambales. Sina Lynn, taga-Las Piñas. So, para cute, sabi namin, reunion ito ng belles from the south and belles from the north."
