Donita Rose Cavett-Villarama is a self-confessed perfectionist. Even her young son JP is beginning to pick up this trait as early as now. "When he know it's time to take a shower, he starts singing [in a sing-song voice] ‘cleaning, cleaning,'" narrates the former MTV VJ.
Smart Parenting reveals that Donita Rose takes her responsibility as a mother very seriously. They discovered that the star VJ of MTV Singapore makes it a point to consult experts and read books on the topic of child rearing. These days, chart-toppers and artists of the month are no longer what fill Donita's thoughts. She and husband Eric are now preoccupied with saving up for their son's education and choosing what kind of school he should go to.
"When you become a wife and a mother, there's a new mantle of responsibility that's placed on you, or rather, that I put on myself," she says. "For a mother to keep her sanity, she's got to have a routine. It's also important for my son to feel secure and to feel that things are predictable."
In the April 2007 issue of Smart Parenting, Donita Rose details how her son copes with the intriguing and colorful world of showbiz. Read how this part-time artista and full-time mom puts on her "mantle of responsibility" for her family.
Donita Rose can also be seen in the TV show U-Turn, which airs every Saturday on free TV Channel 33, Channel 32 on Destiny Cable, and Channel 5 on Sky and Home Cable. Reruns are shown every Tuesday, 8 to 9 p.m. in the same channels.
